67 Dart Grill and Headlight Bezel paint

Stuck on how to proceed with this.

Car is 67 Dart GT 2 door H/T

Have new headlight bezels to replace damaged originals, and the recesses in the parts are black, as original I assume. Pic of new bezel:




The end goal is to have it look like this:







So, any advice on painting/polishing the original grill to match?

Concerns I see:
Polishing the entire grill prior to painting, will paint adhere to polished areas or will the "to-be-painted" areas need abrading prior to paint?

Painting and then polishing, will polishing medium and tools remove the paint?

Best way to paint the recesses? Spray mask and Xacto knife? Tape?

Anyone know what color the black is exactly?

Just read Testor's black enamel model paint....seems brushing it in there would be awfully tedious.

I can't answer your questions with certainty, but I've been thinking on mine that I will end up using the little tape the use for masking stripes, flames etc. I'll clean it up, mask off the bright parts and spray with hot rod black. Should be a good pain in the *** but I can't come up with anything better..
