Hi Guys,
I've just started going through the wiring on my 67 Fastback. I am a complete noob when it comes to wiring but i am prepared to give it a go. I do have a fire extinguisher on hand.
My intention is to run use the existing trunk mounted battery location. although some previous owner put it on the drivers side. I will be swapping it to the passenger side tonight.
The big + cable comes out to the front floor pan, but that's as far as i have got so far. I don't have a heater/demister, so im thinking ill use the heater hole to run my Main power wire and MSD wiring through.. any thoughts, suggestions, etc.
Question 1:
If i use the MSD6A, do i need to use any of the old components like starter relay, Field ignition, ballast resistor etc. My alternator is a new style one with a built in reg. and the distributor is an electric unit. Do i just simply tape these connections off?
Question 2:
I have the factory service manual and have been labelling all of the wires that come out of the bulk head. I have a few different colours that look like original wiring, but are not listed in the manual. I think they are all to do with ignition?? anyone got a diagram with these colour wires on it?
Question 3 :
I have a larger gauge red wire that is cut and is visible near the master cylinder. anyone know what this is and do i still need it if i use the MSD?
