68/9 barracuda windshield stainless clips

-
I wouldnt say "location " is off, I think clips are too short. Measure the height.
I’m dealing with something similar. This is the rear window going down the left side of a 71 Dart. Look how off the factory clip location is. Waiting for the weatherstrip so I can do a test run of the trim View attachment 1715979095

Got all clips in(short one in each lower corner) then I removed most of them to put a dab of marine silicone on screws and reinstall.
I have 2 holes to fill from having to redrill a few. I figure JB weld?
Pulled out gasket and test fit it, needs stretching. Lots of time for sun/stretch as glass guy cant come till Tuesday. Gives me time to wrestle with damn steering column and finish it up.

Only had 2 holes I needed to fill. So dremel'd them and used JB Weld to fill the holes. Gasket laid out in sun today to hopefully soften up. Glass guy tomorrow.

Well glass guy showed up today. It was a bit of a wrestling match, with both the windshield and the glass guy. Took 2 attempts to get ws in and more attempts to get glass guy to believe me as to the butyl tape/caulking. But in the end it all worked out good. Found out he could get me a new ws cheap, so next spring I may contemplate it.
I had to clean up a bunch of the urethane, but it's all good. Got all the stainless on and 1 clip is being a *****.(bottom piece with tape marker). I'll let it sit overnight and try after work tomorrow morning. Maybe a quick shot of silicone lube.
It literally has to push in approx 1/4".
Overall I'm happy with it. It will sit lower once final trim(lower piece) snaps down.

What will I need to be sure my glass guy does with butyl tape/caulking? I sure appreciate you sharing this project!

I hate to admit but mine has a small leak. Make sure he covers the entire bottom and 1/2 way up both a pillars.
Looks like a awesome job guys, I need to do the same to a 67 Dart, does anyone know where I can get the info for the screw/clip locations for the front windshield.
Thanks

From what I've read here and the set I got, the retailers dont even know what they have or what they're selling.
Take the measurements/pics

This was located in post #3 of this thread.

Yes thanks, when I was rereading the thread I zoomed in on that picture, missed it the first go around.
Thanks this has been very helpful.

The pictures are a little busy but i put the white bag behind the clip to show how proud it is.

You can see the opposite A pillar in the second pic to get perspective.

A pillars are lined up in first pic.

I think i need to lose some height on the clip.

Do you all agree?

I think it's still sitting a little proud. Let's see pics of clip when looking from opposite angle. How high is clip sitting from mount area? To center of hole was 0.177 for me.

I'll check this eve.
Ill have to shave a bit off bottom of clip to lower it.

Not weighing in, just following because I'm getting very close to this stage with my 69.

Any chance I could drop by to see what's working for you? I'm in Snohomish.
Shoot me a PM if that works for you. My time is pretty flexible. I can even lend you a hand if you like.

Going to go see which clips I have out in my garage now...

My old trim clips were trashed. ;-) Won't be reusing any of these. lol

For sure man! PM on way.

So i feel that its a little high, but it might be ok unless the gasket pushes it out more. Sorry about the crappy pictures, black is tough to see.

The 2nd pic it looks way proud, but pics with trim it's not quite as "proud"?
How much gap is there between clip and bottom? How much room to "drop" it?
Up against bottom.

I could shave it a bit to drop it.

Or bend the top tab over a smidge, or a combination of both of those techniques...aka "massage" them into line.

I think ill drop them a skösh.

I'm just not sure how much pressure that gasket exerts on the trim....pushing it out.

Could be the clip is "wrong"? There are quite a few different ones. Got a shorter one?
Entirely possible. I think all the clips I have are the same height. It wont be the first time I have to metal work to get the lines on this fine automobile correct :).

Thank you Sir!!

Ill try to get some measurements soon, although I believe Ill have the opportunity on Sat to compare to @'Cuda_ragtop as he is bringing his to mi casa.

Yep, quite a variety of clips with different heights and widths. Take that same clip and put it on bottom rail. The bottom rail is "deeper/taller. Side rails are shorter. I believe 3 different sizes are required.
