I have a 68 Fastback and the chrome piece on the back of the passenger door glass is loose and coming off. I have kept a fresh piece of black duct tape on it for the last few years and its time to fix it right 
. I think I used some yellow weather stripping cement back when I was 16(26 years ago) to attach this thing back on there. That has all hardened and fallen out, is that an acceptable way to fix it? I have found surprisingly little info on this, in the service manual it's pictured attached to the glass, nothing else is ever said about it.
