68 barracuda...what is this?

I was working on my wiring tonight. In the engine compartment, drivers side, right above the master cylinder, attached to the firewall..there is a box with two spade connectors comming out of it. It almost looks like some type of resistor. anybody know what it is?

Sounds like the Voltage regulator.

i found a wiring diagram and I think it is the ignition resisitor although i am not sure of its purpose.

If its a white ceramic looking thing, its the ignition resistor. If you're running points you need it. If you're running an electronic ignition, like a MSD, you don't need it.
