Hi all we just bought a 68 barracuda supposed to be formula s no fender tag not sure if it has build sheet any other way to figure out to tell if its a formula s? 340 4speed car any help apperciated
 
Check the backseat for a build sheet. In fact, there are a couple of places it might be, and I would spend an afternoon hunting for it. It can't hurt. Sounds like a fun car, regardless.
 
fender tag and buildsheet are the only true ways to tell. At the very minimum it has to have a "P" in the 5th digit of the vin for a 340 car. An "H" makes it a 383 car. All the rest are cosmetic changes that can be done to any fish.
 
383 and 340 only came in a Formula S for 68. You could not get them in a normal Barracuda.

So if the vin has the P or H code in the 5th position the car could only be a Formula S (or the dash came from a Formula S).
 
Hi all thanks for help 5th digit is a p but for 12700 car way to rough no fender tag no build under rear seat had the inner fenders patched bad job all spots that frame meet the the floor was bolted together for bracing they thought it would make car stiffer had a 72 340 in it putty in quaters dent in door way to rough
