I know that on some b-bodies that you can swap the spindles to disc brake units by robbing the pieces off of an F or M body. Why could you not do this to an a body?? and would it take different upper control arms??

Yes and Yes, lots of info in the brake forum on this topic.

Thanks...I did not know there was so much info on the m-body and f-body disc brakes. You used to read those magazines all the time that said not to use them...lol

So I need the upper control arms from a disc brake a-body?? '73-'76?

Yes, big ball joint 73-76 upper control arms or aftermarket tubular if you want to add some camber. As far as using the knuckles from the fjm, there are lots of guys on here doing it with no problems. I have a 70 ebody setup for sale and the geometry of the spindle is the same as the 73-76 a body spindle if your interested.

F,M and J bodies make excellent disc upgrade donors for A bodies.
Get everything from the spindles out off the F,M,J and either the upper control arms from any 73-76 A body OR Dr Diff makes a balljoint adapter. Your lower arms will be fine. You'll need lower balljoints for any 73-76 A body, drum or disc are the same BJ.
