Getting a 1969 formula s in a few weeks off of my friend, trading a '68 el camino. I searched posts and couldn't find the answer. What are the biggest tires that will fit in the back with super stock springs, no relocation kit. I know 255/60r15 are the biggest with stock rear springs. Gotta get rid of the 14" cragers that are on it now, sits way too low.

I guess it varies from one car to another but I`ve been able to put 275/60-15`s on my 68 Barracuda with stock springs in their factory position. I used 15 x 8 wheels with 4.25" backspacing.

I have 255/60 on 8" wide rims that have 4.5" of back spacing. There is plenty of wheel well room for a bigger tire if the wheel had less back spacing, right now there is 1/2" of clearance between the tire and the spring. A friend of mine has 295/50's on the back of his 67 Cuda with a helper spring on the stock leafs, don't know what the wheel back spacing is though.

I had 275/60/15 on mine until I got new tires. Went with 255's when I got new ones. The 275's were extremely close to rubbing the front part of the wheel opening and they were wore down allmost bald. Had plenty of clearance on top though. My 15x8 wheels only have 3.5" backspacing. If I had wheels with deeper back spacing like John's I wouldn't have had the problem rubbing in front.
