hello to all,
I have a 69 barracuda I am restoring (kind of). But there is something funny. I have been told that the notchback in 67 & 68 have the chrome plates in the hood. the 69 did not. But the 69 hood and nose are different. I have been told you can change the front sheet metal on the 69 with a 67 or 8 and use an older hood.
My question is that I have the round "bubble nose" of only the 69 and the center ridge on the hood of the 69, but also have the chrome plates in the hood of a 67 68?
I know this is not what these parts are called, but I am kind of a dummy.
Any info anyone has would be great, Thanks, Lugnut1962

If you want to use the 67-68 hood inserts, you have 2 options.
1. Change the front header panel to 67-8 style to accept the 67-8 hood.
2. Use the 69 header panel and use the 69 hood with modifications to accept the hood inserts.
I junked some hoods and regret as I am in the same boat with my 69. I would have liked to modify the hood to accept inserts.

I think he is saying he allready has a 69 hood with 67-68 inserts in it. Someone over the years could have modified it. If you don't want the inserts I believe a 73-75 Dart hood will work. I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will chime in. Good luck with your build. Post some pics if you can.

Yes the '73-'76 Dart hood will bolt on and look correct. The only difference is the underhood bracing is different and that only matters if its a high dollar show car. And no the '69s did not have the plates on the hood. Someone bolted them on at some point in the cars life. Also, if one switches over to the '67-'68 hood and nose the '69 grilles won't fit onto the earlier nose piece.

The '69 grilles are a one year only piece so it requires that you use the matching header panel. You can always grab a common '73 up Dart hood and modify it for your purpose. I don't recall ever seeing a '69 Barracuda with the hood inserts??

I have a '69 Barracuda coupe myself and had the same thoughts on hood modifications.

I did talk to Mike at BEA and he said that '69 Barracuda grilles will be out sometime in late spring! That's good because I need them.

Hey, thank you all for your posts. Good info. The problem is I have all the parts, front end, grill, everything for the 69. But I also have the chrome in the hood. This hood is modeled for the inserts. I want the inserts in the hood, I just want the car correct. (with the exception of a mild cam, shift kit and pozzi rearend but you know....it's a mopar). I have been told a 69 never had those and then I found a 69 on this site with the same thing. Pics posted by "clairday modtops" in 2008? So, I was thinking till then I had the only one worth a million dollars.......what is that saying I keep seeing around here "lifes hard, and even harder when "I,m stupid" all well....thanks again. lugnut1962

Wow....I need a right side grill for my 69. Can you post, ahhh....who is Mike from BEA? I'll buy some parts. Thanks. lugnut1962

These grilles that are coming out are from P.G. Classic's from Canada (made in China) and are going to be around $1300.00 for a pair.

P.G. Classics and BAE are sister companies. They carry the same products. I beleive the difference is PG parts don't have the part numbers moulded into them but the BAE parts do for a higher cost. Anyway, they both carry very good reproduction parts.
