I am installing a set of tti headers on my 69 dart 340. It is a 4 speed car with a stock aluminum flywheel. I am running RHS 360x heads. I am trying to figure out if the starter clearance is normal for my for SB tti 4 speed car. I have tried a 97 Dakota starter and a Mopar performance mini starter. (Seem to be identical) the boot that covers the solenoid lug rests along the header tube. With it pulled back I have about 3/8 of an inch clearance. I just worry about dropping a bolt or wrench and arcing against the headers if the boot burns up or I remove it. Is there a better fitting starter for my application? Or am I worrying about nothing?

I will look into that. Is the heat tape usually non conductive as to not short out the solenoid?

I would remove the boot and run it as is.

I have a couple cars just like it. Not an issue on my stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I will remove the boot and run it. If I run into issues I will look at a starter blanket.
