We need a photo or to to see what you are talking about. Knowing what year and model will help as well.

You will need the lockstrip as manufactured by Precision Rubber Products. It is part number WLSD690A. It is the mylar piece that is used with the WCRD690A windshield gasket. Most of the larger vendors carry them and PRP is the only manufacturer of a correct piece. They are pricey and due to the length, they have to be shipped "oversize" which adds more to the cost.

oh ok so i should be able to find one ...thanks
paul

You will find lots of retailers with supposed correct piece, but as @RPM440+6 (he sells correct product) mentioned above there is only one mfg, Precision. Make sure they are the MFG.
I'll try and get u a pic of the correct profile. I may even have a couple used pieces (when used together) that would be long enough.

recently I have found 2 NOS lock strips for 67 Dart one was convert the other was 2Dr HT or 4 Dr HT and t is just a bit too long so with a trim it will shorten. both were like the one on precisions photo with the chrome internal to the plastic.

Mine (the glass was replaced once post 1973 and I do not know if the lock strip was replaced or not) had the chrome on the outside of the plastic so it all came off over time like the OPs
