69 Dart manual steering column

I used my auto column when I converted ovet to manual steering. I just extended the shaft 1.25" or so using 3/4 in bar round stock. I taper ground the shafts and mig welded the extension in. I then grounded the weld down, and used the manual coupler instead of the auto coupler. It only cost me a few hours of time and to look at it you can never tell the shaft was modified at all. Just take your time, measure, make sure it's STRAIGHT, measure again, make sure coupler pin hole is in the correct location. make sure its straight. tack weld in place. measure, test fit. measure again and be certain it will fit properly before final welding.
Just have patience and take your time and nobody will ever know it was lengthened, and it will save you a few hundred bollars.
