I have had some that could be pulled without taking apart. Most of them.
Then I had one that was so unmovable it would have damaged the collar or bearing if I
kept after it.
On the one that was a problem I took it apart and clamped the smaller solid shaft in a vise horizontal so that the outer tube was very close to the side of the jaws. I could then use two screwdrivers to leverage the outer tube away from the jaws. As you move the tube reclamp the solid shaft choked up to the jaws for the best leverage. Little bites type of deal. No damage.
