After loosening the switch I took out the 2 screws holding the wiring cover on. I didn't remove the cover but the extra play in it made it easier to fish the wiring through.

I cut the connector off (it's easier to get the old pins out if you can work with it while standing up). I then taped a wire on the cut wires and pulled the old switch out. This will be used to pull the new wires through.

This is the connector. Notice that the pins have a tang on each side of them. This is what holds them in when you look at the connector you will have to push these in to remove the pin. You can use a very small Jewelers screwdriver or I found that even though it doesn't fit in the recess an Xacto knife blade works well. When you reinstall then you might have to bend the tang out in order for them to lock in place properly. Now fish it down through with your wire and reverse the procedure.
