My first post in this forum (I think)! After 3 years my 340 4 speed Swinger is nearly done. I have actually driven it around the neighbourhood a few times to start getting it sorted out. I did all the bodywork, engine, suspension, interior, brakes steering, etc. The only thing I farmed out was the gearbox rebuild, engine block machining, head rebuild and paint although I helped out.

Wow what an awesome car. Engine, interior, and other pics of that beauty? Engine specs, rear axle ratio? How long you owned it ect? Tell us more about that awesome car.....

It's so rewarding doing most of the work yourself. I did all the work on both of my rides excluding the assembly of my RB stroker motor. They are not show pieces but drivers. Your car looks great! Congrats.

Mine has been in a box for 2 years so I hope its ok. Reasonably easy job?
Mine was rolled up in the box for about 15 years. A year ago I laid it flat on a table to hopefully let it smooth out. The upper paper still had some wrinkles in it which transferred to the stripe when I applied it (only one area). I did it by myself using the soapy water solution in a spray bottle. If I do it over again I would probably use the gel and have a helper hold and pull the stripe. Good luck!
P.S. I did pop the bubbles with a pin and re-squeegee. They got better, but not all of them flattened out.

Poke em with a pin and squeegee the down.

Looks like who ever mixed the paint made Dodge plumb Crazy and not Plymouth Inviolet. Looks nice
I just couldn't get mine right ended up trashing one strip kit so I ended up taking it to the local car wrapped place and he didn't awesome job for a fair price. Great job on the car!

I asked for 1970 Dodge FC7 and had no sample to compare it to. I think its close. I later tried to buy more paint in another brand and they couldn't even come close. I'm wondering how it will look next to other Plum Crazy cars.

An old paint mixer at Klines in allentown would color match mopar paints. he told me the difference between dodge and plymouth paints and the different names was. They had different metallics if you wanted the color to match for repairs. Dodge typically had silver metallic and Plymouth more Gold on the paint he was mixing for me. I always remembered this by plymouth Golden commandos. Just my way to remember, I never mixed paint , This is going by what he told me.

But I do know plymouth and dodge colors did look different next to one another . Like Rally green and Vitamine C. and Plumb Crazy. B5 blue. and many more. I always thought the primer was different . He told me it was the metallics. His paint matches were alway dead on. His name is Bob I think he still works there. He matched the fender and door on my Demon in the 80's

Hers's an interesting article about the Mopar Hi-Impact colors from the '70s. High Impact Colors

A real achievement! You should be rightly proud.

Regarding the bubbles, what you need is a really hot day. If you have stripes made from 3M material, they are porous and a really hot day in the sun will pull the bubbles right out without pin holes or the squeegee. The first one that I did had bubbles and the paint guy said to leave them alone and a hot day would cure it. I took it to the first summer show and really cringed about the bubbles (they looked like S#!t). I went parts hunting for a couple hours at the swap meet and when I got back to the car they had all disappeared like magic! Now all you need is a hot day in the sun in Alberta!

Instructions say not to put them on in direct sunlight. It’s hot here right now… 30 C

I'll get the black stripe on it next week.
Matt, I think I read on here somewhere you got the black Phoenix Graphics stripe. Is it the satin/semi-gloss black? I've seen Gloss black advertised by others, but i don't think that is correct for these cars. I just want to make sure I get the right one.
Thanks,
Rick
