700R4 for SB Mopar

It looks like you're on your own for figuring how to shift it. No cable, no linkage.
The Silver Sport kits come with all of that but you're going to pay more than $4200.
@jbc426 has a GM based 2004R, a smaller yet durable 4 speed automatic overdrive in one of his cars. Check with him...

It comes with the TV cable. I'm buying it through a dealer and getting a decent discount, around 3800.00 with free shipping if I remember correctly.

That is very cool.. just a bit too pricey for me.. seems like any floor shifter that works with a chevy would be fine

I put one of those in an RX7 with the Corvette tuned Port 350 and I never could get it to shift to fourth gear they said I needed some kind of TV cable or something I don't know

yup, this kit comes with the tv cable...

If you buy a kit from Silver Sport make sure you can get it all installed and tested before warranty expires. They are rigid with warranty. My reverse lockout on my 6 spd kit burned up 1 month after the 1 year warranty and they said best they could do was sell me another one at a discount. They were nice on phone and all but damn I spent in the 9k range and was only one month past warranty cause I didn't get car together fast enough.

TV stands for Throttle Valve. That controls UPshift and downshift points.
How about a means to shift it from Park to Reverse? Park to Drive? I see no shifter assembly, no linkage either.

Shifter hooks up on a arm that bolts here, it's not a full bolt in kit... but not hard to buy a B&M shifter although i am not a fan of floor shifters

Thank you!

What’s the advantage over a 42rh ? I don’t think you have to do much tunnel clearance work if any . The gear ratios are tighter although the 3.0+ first would get you off the line better and the .70 OD is nice . Not much different than a 42rh ….
A 42rh can be built to handle lots of HP . And the linkage is a straight forward fit.

I tried finding a 46 RH and it was like trying to find hens teeth in these parts.

I am just finishing up the install of a 46rh and a 408 but in retrospect should have gone with a 42rh due to the smaller dimensions, lighter weight and deeper 1st gear (?) . They can be found in 2wd Dakotas and d150s from approximately 90-93ish maybe later . I have another 46rh as an extra.
If you build them with Sonnax parts and a shift kit they will handle lots of HP.
You should have a ton of 2wd trucks in boneyards down there .

did you have to do major surgery to fit the 46?

THAT is a major consideration. The torsion bar crossmember needs to be reshaped to clear the overdrive unit.

Not really… I probably did more the neccesary. I cot the crossmember out and fabbed another out of 1/4” steel bar . But I could have gotten away with just trimming the stock one and welding 14ga sheet metal to it .

damn that's not bad...

It also controls the line pressure, and is critical that it is properly adjusted and that the geometry at the throttle lever ramps up accurately.

How much power are you planning on putting through it? Will you be running a lock-up converter? There are much better builds available out there than the one you posted, and bolting one in is not hard, but modifying the torsion bar crossmember and rear mount is required.

I've since upgraded my 2004R to a 6-Planetery 4L60. The first gear ratio in them stock is low at about 3.06 to 1 with a pretty big jump to second. It is one of the problems with the initial design. They've since overcome that weakness with a re-geared 6-Planatery gear set that is dramatically stronger. Add a few other aftermarket hard parts and they are rated at over 1000+hp.

Don't know if this is helpful in this discussion or not. I installed a 200-4R in my 73 Sport because I wanted the OD since I'm running a 3.91 gear. Here is a photo of how much I had to cut the cross member to get clearance.

Nice work! I'm running 3.91's as well. Just be mindful of your driveshaft RPM when in overdrive and pushing the top end limits. The wrong driveshafts can easily reach Critical Speed. Be sure to get a good one if you like to go fast.

just for more info, here's the 200-4R installed with the clearance. And the trans cross member I fabbed for the trans / exhaust clearance.
