Anyone know of a direct fit AM/FM Cd player for 71 Dart? If not, any suggestions. Our project is due home from the paint shop soon and it's time to figure out the last few details.

As far as I know, there are no AM/FM/CD units that fit the stock dashboard without cutting a bigger hole for a DIN radio/CD unit.

If you don't want to cut the dash, there are AM/FM/Cassette units with auxiliary line inputs to hook up a CD player.

What I found is a unit from Crutchfield that has AM/FM and a memory card slot and a USB connection. Put your entire music collection on a memory card (I think it's a 32 Gig limit) and take ALL your music on the road.

Custom Autosound has similar units, and a hideaway system for CDs.

Looks like the CD player for autos is gonna be the next dodo bird!

Thank you, I kind of thought this was the answer I would get, everyone has stereos for 71 B and E bodies but not A bodies. Like your 64, my first car was a 64 Polara 500 rag top purchased for $200 in 1975.

I have a 70 Dart and I tried every conceivable place to fit a stereo. The glove box wasn't near large enough and even with the box out it either interfered with the cables and arms on the heater box or when out of the way of those it was in the way of the latch on the door. It's an odd shaped door and box area. I finally just mounted under the dash for now. I bought an infrared repeater for the stereo remote so I can mount it anywhere it will fit and be protected but I'd like to see the front display too. There are the companies who make modern stereos that look vintage.

Don't know anything about these guys:
