Anyone know the fix for stiff heater controls ? They always were stiff I pulled the dash for a complete rebuild and while they were out I cleaned the heater controls they were still a bit stiff but a bit better now reassemble and the top off/ heat/ defrost is just about unusable. Any kits to rebuild the cables seem fine the plastic guides had some minor cracks . Thanks

Seems to just be the tight curving of the cables when in the dash. The way I have it outside the dash it’s nice and free! Now what ?

When I first got Vixen, her cables were stiff, too. Since I had to replace the heater core right off the bat, I got them all out, cleaned them good and used Fluid Film to lubricate them. Made a world of difference.

I cleaned the controls they are free when they are not tight behind the dash, maybe the cables are worn I just never ran across a post where someone replaced a set that was stiff

Spray some lube into the cable tube and work the wire in and out over and over. Keep going at it from both sides until you're sure the entire cable is lubed up. It should move freely at that point. Then just ensure that the cables aren't taking a route where they are bent too tight when you reinstall them.

I wouldn't try and force the control sliders over if the cable is too stiff. You run the risk of bending the wire and potentially ruining the whole cable.
