71 Demon Rear Bumper bracket bolt

Trying to confirm myself, on my 71 Demon I don't have hardware to mount the rear bumper brackets to the body. The slot measures a tad over half inch. It looks like a 1/2" carriage bolt with a retainer would work for this and allow it to float to adjust side to side. Is this the correct way of mounting the brackets to the body and the correct diameter? Thank you.

I believe it is a 1/2"-13 hex bolt . There should be a nut welded to the bracket that will tell you what size to use . My memory is foggy but give it a try .
