I bought a replacement steering box for my Scamp and they sent a 1973 power steering box instead. I returned mine for the core and now I am stuck i need to get the correct PN for a 1971 steering box. Every time I order one they are the wrong one!

I didn't know there was a difference between a ps pump for a 71 vs one for a 73.
If there is there's a good chance that whoever you are getting them from consolidated their line.

'72 and older A, B, and E body power steering gears have the small diameter sector shaft for the pitman arm. '73 and newer have the larger one, like the C-bodies.

Where did you buy it? They should make it good or return your old box.

Why would you have returned the core when the new box was wrong? Did you not even bother with checking the new box?

Yep, well, I got sidetracked and didn’t even have time to check cause I thought it was correct . It looked the same, I didn’t realize there was a difference in the size of the spline. only get to work on mine when I have free time which doesn’t come around enough.

Firm Feel has the pitman arm to use the 73 box on your 71 car. I had a factory large sector firm feel PS box on the shelf when I did my 70 Dart GT and they hooked me up

Don't know, I called them up and explained my situation and they knew just what I required. Warning: I think it cost 2 or 3 times what a common pitman arm costs, but that's a lot less than a different PS box!
