Hello

So it's come time for me to paint a new fender I got to replace the one bambi bashed in. My fender tag says my paint code is GW3 which translates to "Bright White Exterior Color" when I put it in the tag decoder. I did some looking around and found this...

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...lymouth/valiant?q=chrysler+bright+white&pos=1

.... but it says it is for gw6, gw7, pw6, pw7 and so on. Is it the same white or do I need to keep looking? Any other sources of paint that might work? I don't want to get too crazy in cost because the fender is technically wrong for my car... it has the holes for marker lights when my valiant originally didn't. I just can't live with myself having a heavily scratched blue fender on a white car.

In 1971, the color GW3 was called "Sno White". Take a color sample to your local paint supplier. If you know it was originally GW3, and they have a sample of what it looks like now, they should be able to mix something really close. Don't try and match it out of a pre-mixed spray can. If you really want it in an aerosol can, most paint supply shops can do that for you too.

GW3 was new for the 1971 model year.

A '71 should have marker lights.

I drew red arrows towards what I am talking about. Maybe I am using the wrong terminology.

Here's my car... as you can see no marker lights on top the fenders. Now looking at your paint chip chart it looks like my paint is bright white w3.

Ah, OK.
Marker lights are in the sides.

Fender top turn signal indicators were part of the A01 Light package.

We just went to the paint supply store today. My son's car is a 1971 Plymouth valiant in sno white. It's the only white for Plymouth that year I believe. I think bright is a Chrysler color. W3 is the code for Plymouth at the industrial finishes. Cost $354 for primer, paint and all the needed reducers, hardners, etc. We are painting the whole car less the vinyl top section.
