71 wiper motor resistor

Hey Mopar guys,

Can someone tell me if a 71 Duster two speed wiper is supposed to have a resistor on it or will it work without it?

Mine doesn't have one and I see the repop's don't come with one either.

It should have one mounted on the motor and connected between the brown wire coming out of the car harness and the brown wire coming out of the motor connector.
