Picked up a Shorty 727 SB yesterday was told they had stronger internals and different gear ratios than a standard long shaft .

any truth in that ?????

The short shaft should have 4 pinion planetary gears, not sure on gear ratios.

They are basically the same internal wise and gear ratios are all the same. 2.45. 1.45. 1.0 bb shorty Trannys from trucks and vans could have 4 pinion planetaries. There is no rhyme or reason to chryslers whimiscal ways. Kim
