727 first gear?

I've noticed that when I down shift from second to first gear the car just free wheels. It's a 727 reverse valve body and a stall convertor. Is something broke? If u give it gas I can tell it's in 1 gear but when coast only free wheels.

It's because you are running a reverse manual valve body. They do not apply the rear band in low gear to make the 1-2 shift better. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT downshift it into low like a regular trans because it can overspeed the front clutch drum and cause it to explode like TNT. Also do not do low gear burnouts.
