Have I got the correct levers for a floor shifter? it seems like the rear rod should have a bushing instead of just a cotter pin holding it into the control lever. Doesn't look like the pics TTI shows. Haven't modified the gearshift control bracket yet. TTI doesn't seem to explain it very clearly.

When the shifter linkages are up and in place, the mod is as instructions, merely cut the horizontal piece of the arm, overlap it a bit so it clears the collector, vice-grip and w eldit together in a manner that clears the collector etc. A slight bend may be in order.. It's a great header, you'll luv them. Cheers

That shift arm (on the transmission) is the later (mid 70s) style and is meant to have a large plastic or rubber bushing that the rod snaps into. Earlier arms had a bole the same size as the end of your shifter rod. The rod would have gone through the arm and then had a thin washer and cotter pin or clip to retain it.

Dave and Doug I believe you're right. Cause right now as shown in the picture that rod with the cotter pin, as it sits, is just too sloppy. Something has to take up the slop. A rubber one is too binding. Any idea if that plastic bushing is available? Or do I have to buy a new lever with bushing if that is even available?

I currently have the lever with large hole in my 55 (727). I made a plastic spacer to take up the slop. If you have access to a welder you could fill the hole with weld and drill it to the right size, or just find the right lever. The rubber grommet does not use a cotter pin. With the grommet the rod is different, it snaps into the grommet.

Also the "snap in" rods are not adjustable. What is the issue with the ttis? I previously used them on a small block with 727 and floor shift with no problems. Is this a big block installation?

According to TTI Footnote #23 the lower rod needs to be "repositioned" flipped over as shown in the picture and the lever holding the torque shaft in its up/down position gets cut in half moved a 1/4 to 1/2 inch and rewelded just as "Inertia" suggested. Yes it's a big block. Found a plastic insert on ebay which I'll try. I still think the lever under the kickdown lever is incorrect. The console with linkage and the transmission with the 2 levers both came from different cars so I still might have to scrounge around for that other lever. Thanks all.
