i had a fresher perfectly working 727, it sat 6 years i installed in a new car, new build seemed fine, less than 300 miles, reverse started feeling real lazy. the fluid was dark and smelling burnt.
TOTAL rebuild...
seemed fine drove 1500 miles ,made a hand full of 12.o passes. then lost reverse all together. i adjusted/tightened the band, and it seemed fine.and the linkage seemed a bit off for reverse, so i adjusted it..NOW
just because i pulled it out to check...the fluid is fine, and the debris in the pan is adequate to a fresh rebuild, (minimal). i did not tear it completely down .the reverse/ low band looks good. SO
minimal debris,
good looking band. is there anything else to check before i put it back in?
