been building my own 727's up for years now with no issues, until now.
in N it sits there fine, bring the rpm up and she does a quick jerk forward and then reverse. have noticed 2-3 shift is very harsh as well. the two may be related?
not encountered this before so thought it better to ask.

hurst promatic 2. i adjusted the cable the other day and the lurching seemed gone and 2-3 shift not so harsh. i started the car yesterday and the lurching was there again . valve body is a Cope Racing manual reverse pattern.

Did you have the hurst shifter with that valvebody before?

Which one is new?

did you set it up with the transmission and the shifter both in neutral?

the vb is new, the shifter has been in car for years. yes, set shifter N and went through all gears making sure the linkage and cable end were shifting correctly although P was tight.
car was bb 727 with tci manual vb, now sb 727 and cope manual vb. same shifter on both

I'm no trans guy but did the park rod go in smooth or lots of swearing.

Was there anything major done to the trans other than the new VB? Manual VB's shift very aggressive so the harsh 2-3 shift isn't out of the ordinary
