Dart Sport 73 340/727/ Today I was looking over my drive train. I had my rear axle on jack stands, engine at idle, tranny in neutral and the rear tires were turning. Is this normal?

If you put resistance on the sidewall, you should be able to stop your tire.

They shouldn't be spinning 20mph. :)

Well I tapped the brakes. Let off brakes and spins again. I guess I'll recheck tomorrow. For my own knowledge let's say they were spinning 20 mph. What problem would that point to?

Tighter clearances on the clutch packs and transferring rotation. It's not a big deal.

If that happens to me I use a rag or gloved hand to see how much resistance it takes to stop the movement. There's little resistance when tire is off the ground so instead of it slipping inside the trans, it runs through the trans to rear axle. A lot like water and electricity, path of least resistance.

The fluid causes a viscosity type drag also, which causes them to turn.
Totally normal.
