727 port under front pump sealed by RTVed....?

Never gave this any concern 7 years ago when I did a full rebuild. The port that is located under the forint pump cover has always been sealed off with rtv. Why would this be done...or is this suppose to be done for some trick?

Hum.... don't remember a port there. There isn't any fluid transfer between that part of the pump and trans so I wouldn't worry about it.

I guess I did not look at the pump to see if there were a port. Just odd it has an opening there that goes back to the pan. Making sure its not something critical is all

It is odd for sure. Thing is it looks like it was cast that way, that's what's really odd!
