727 problem

have a race 727,that 1st gear went out,wont pull itself in 1st gear,dont think a band broke the i woulndnt have reverse,have reverse,2nd and3rd but no 1st,would it be something in the vale body,like to see if theres something i can do before i take it out and take it somewhere
