Had my mechanic friend reseal my 727 2 years ago as it sat for 39 years without turning. He has recently passed. The problem is you have to wait for it to go into reverse, all other gears work perfectly. No burnt oil smell from oil. Is this a problem that can be fixed in frame or is removal necessary? Auto shifting or manual VB?
Pull the pan and readjust the rear band (count the turns for confirmation if correct or not).

Sounds like a fluid pressure problem such as a worn pump. Reverse requires higher line pressure than the forward gears.

Mine has done that for years. I start mine and put in neutral first or just start in neutral
Rev it a few times… goes right into reverse
There was another thread on here somewhere about this issue.

Thanks for the info guys. Won’t be driving the Dart for a few weeks yet, as we have over a foot of snow and freaking-30 F temps. I can hear the ZZZZZZ of the hibernating Dart when I walk by it’s garage
