727 Tranny

Okay, so I know little to nothing about transmissions. I just purchased a 360 block and the guy threw in the 727 that came with it. Can I keep and use my column shift with the 727? Will it work? What do I need to do to make it work? Anyone out there done this before?

Everything will bolt up just fine. I have a 360/727 combo in my 66 with a column shift and it just hooked up like it belonged there.

Awesome! I'm running a slant six right now. I've got bench seating and really want to avoid cutting a hole in the floor.

If the transmisson in the car now is a 904 you will need to change the Drive shaft & yoke! the 727 tailshaft is a couple inch longer then the 904!

If the car is an early a-body the tunnel might need some massaging. I had to do tunnel work on my '65 to get the 727 to fit. If the car is a '67 up then it will fit with no mods at all to the tunnel.

Thanks for the responses people. I should have given more information on my ride. It's a 72 Duster. I'm hopefully going to get my 8 3/4 rear put in over the next 2 weeks to, before the snow comes! So much work..so little good weather!
