How can I adjust the first to second shift point?
It's fine around town, but under WOT it shifts way too fast.....

Jeff

For a quick adjustment, vehicle off, full throttle make sure the kick down lever @ tranny is at full travel. Not binding or less than full. There are some great factory videos on adjustment procedures on YouTube! MoparTV channel!

You may have!

1st step is to confirm it is adjusted correctly. Next step is likely governer related, either by line pressure adjustment or Governer weight size.

The 1-2 is supposed to be at like 15 mph , which seems fast but if you search around here on FABO you will find a tip from Trailbeast on how to move your shift points without messing up your TPL adjustment , I moved my shift points from 15mph 1-2 and 30-35mph for the 2-3 to 25mph 1-2 and @ 45mph for the 2-3 . I also drove my car cross country 5000 km each way like that with no issues .
PS all it takes is a spring on the carb linkage .

I'll search that out !

Understand this is a way to get better shift performance without either taking the pan or tailhousing off to access the real issue. Ma Mopar made transmissions designed for the engine and gearing per application based on engineering principles of their design!

When engines/trans or other power train items are changed based on the sum of items used then all bets are off. Certainly a screw and nut to increase throttle rod activation is bad, the spring application solves this, but appropriate governor design is always the best way to match shift points to the total driveline application.

Since you have a cable kickdown, be certain that while at wot the cable is all the way, it is also set at idle too. Meaning carb lever total travel needs to match trans lever travel, no slack. Then you can fine tune from there.
