I just recently put a 440 and a 727 in my barracuda. It doesn't have anything to do with the shift cable it just won't shift at all.
727 wont shift out of park

Was this tranny rebuilt or had valve body modified? Tail shaft been off? Is the car on a big slant forwards or backwards? All of them can make the park rod stick into the park pawl in the tailshaft. Kim

the valve body has not been modified, the car is fairly even on the ground, and the tail shaft has been off before.
The park rod from the vb goes into it. May be jammed in there. Kim
Did you ever see the trans ever work correctly?

I took out the valve body and put it back in and it will shift now. How would the parking rod get jammed and how do you prevent it from getting stuck again?
