73-76 fender on 72?

I have a 72 swinger and need a drivers fender and am located in CT. I have been looking and talking to many people but haven't come across one in almost a year since I got the car. I know there are marker light differences to the 70 and 71's but physically they bolt right in. My real question is can you use a 73 and up fender on a 72? I have never seen them side by side but it appears that the fender extension on 70-72's is just simply built into the 73 and up fenders. If anybody has tried this or has any input at all it would be appreciated.
