I have a 73 scamp 6cyl. drum brakes that I'm converting to a v8 and disc brakes. Will any mopar cars from the 80's work as a bolt on donor car.

Since your scamp is a 73 the upper control arms will already have the larger ball joints. So all you need is the spindles. Take a look over at bigblockdart.com in there tech section there is a great article on using spindles from B,F,J,M,R body cars will work. I took a set off an 85 5th Ave. There are ton's of those in the junk yards.

After 73 Chrysler used a lot of standard parts on all there cars...made it cheaper..

Take a read and swap away

Cheers

Save your drum brake knuckles. People who want to put Viper brakes on their A body cars need those late model drum knuckles. In fact, if you read a few other threads on here you'll find guys looking for those drum knuckles.

Actually, since you have a '73 A body with drum brakes you can just slide a set of 11.75 rotors right onto your existing spindles. Attaching the caliper is the hard part!

There are kits that fit the drum brake knuckles available from Wilwood, Aerospace and others. Those are for drag racing only but that is an option. The Viper on 11.75 kit fits right on your existing knuckles without any changes also.

I'm building this scamp with my 12 year old son. It is going to be his first car, so we do have alot of time to get it done. So for now I'm gathering parts and idea's so I appreciate all the help! I just found an 84 diplomat with a 318 for $375.00 that I can drive home so I'll find out what parts will work from that. I have a 70 GTX that I've had since 1980 and my wife has a 74 Challenger. We've been mopar lovers for many years. Anyway, Thanks again for the help and I'll be talking to ya soon!
