Hey guys:

Thought I would share something not rare but a bit unusual.

I have a 1973 Valiant, 225 slant six with a 3-speed manual, 49,000 original miles.

I wondered why low gear on my car was non-synchronized, when almost all the info I ever find states that most cars after '71 or so got either the A230 or the A390, both fully synchronized.

Well, it has an A250. Scraped the pad on the passenger side and sure enough it shows 3B126XXX, which matches my VIN. It's a very early '73, built 9/15/72. I guess I'm just curious why they would install a trans normally used in trucks and vans in a car. It also has the stock 3.23 rear ratio.

This car was unusual in one other respect....it came with the very rare AM/FM radio in an otherwise stripped Valiant.
