Well folks, I have been around the site for a while...so I'm gonna use this thread to introduce myself to those of you that don't know me and also to show the progress of my 1973 Dart Sport that I am just starting to get to work on. Name is Mike for those of you that don't know me. I currently live in Oklahoma, but as I am starting this thread the option of possibly moving to Wyoming is upon me. I was born and raised around MOPAR even though I did have a few years of ignorance and drove a couple of GMs. I have quite a few cars that are in line to be have work done on them, but my Dart Sport is probably the easiest project car I have right now, so, I am getting to work on it. I am not a numbers matching or factory correct kind of guy for the most part unless I stumble upon something that is worth that and that I can afford someday.
Plans for the Dart Sport include:
1) Fresh 318 with quite a few small upgrades throughout to make it a bit more fun to drive.
2) Rebuild on the stock 904 with kit installed and most likely a 2000-2500 stall
3) Paint color change, currently car is oversprayed in what was a poor quality grey...future color is still to be decided
4) Interior will be refinished, pics show the interior to be somewhat decent, but for my standards the refinish is needed and beside that, the pics are quite deceiving
5) Rear plans are either to find an 8 3/4 SG or upgrade the current 8 1/4 to a SG and most likely will get 3.23 or 3.55 gears...again undecided
6) A few body changes will also come into play, the car will get a snorkel scoop, as this is the look that I want and the option of a rear spoiler is yet to be decided
7) Wheels will most likely be 15x7 on all four corners or a stagger setup for front and rear...wheel brand and type again are yet to be decided
8) Suspension will be upgraded to SS/HD springs in the back and hopefully tubular arms up front...if I can wait long enough to save the money and do it
9) Exhaust options are way up in the air as far as whether headers will be installed or if I will keep stock manifolds
That's about it for now, as progress is made please feel free to comment and make suggestions. Even though not a full resto of the car, this will most likely be the most extensive work I have done on a car yet, so all suggestions/comments are welcomed and I will try not to take offense about any of them.
