Hello

I have a 74 Slant Six Valiant engine that I want to put in a 71 Valiant.
The original 71 engine is already out. I see that the oil pan is not quite the same, but the difference is not very much. The most noticeable thing is that on the 74 the drain plug is on the side.

Has anyone ever put a 73+ slant in a 67 - 72 A body and know if the oil pan fits?

1971 pan is part number 3462086 and the 1974 part number is 3614264. Chrysler superseded the older number to the newer number, so it should fit.

Hello european neighbor :)

If the '74 oil pan doesn't fit your '71 K-member, isn't it possible to install the '71 oil pan onto the '74 engine?

Hey friend. Right. But before I do an oil pan change, I wanted to ask if it's even necessary. I'd probably have to change the oil pickup tube too, then?

It's up to you if want to change everything but the oil pickup tube was the same from 1970 thru 1976.

If I were just gonna pluck that 74 motor into the 71or vise versa I'd at least replace all of the gaskets and freeze plugs while I had the "new" motor hanging any way. So a pan and pickup swap would not cost any extra anyway
