Good evening, looking at picking up a 2006 5.7 hemi from a dodge charger and looking to see how hard this would be . I understand I need to change the K member to a v8 and then get a conversion, fuel system. I think my biggest thing is how to use the donor cars cpu as it won’t have all the bells and whistles of the 06 car. Basically need it to run. Any help with this would be awesome,
Thanks!

It was my understanding that people doing the conversion preferred the slant 6 K-frame as one of the V8's motor mounts was in the way of something on the 5.7. I could be wrong though.

Was it something to do with the exhaust? I’m just not sure how to mount the hemi as all kits are from v8 and not slant 6 K frame

I would spend some time reading over the sub forum link in the last post. Plenty of info there.

I know what I need to make my 5.7 run using a 2010 Ram PCM, but kind of fuzzy on the '06 stuff. I would bet that if you ran the right power and ground wires, it might be enough to make it run. Only tricks I can think of is you will need to wire it up with a ASD, fuel pump and starter relays that the PCM can control. Then run the starter wire from the ignition switch or button to the PCM. The trick there is the PCM wants to control the starter or it won't fire. But I could have that wrong some.

There are other minutia to contend with, so much reading is in your future.

These videos might helps some:

V8 motor mount is in the way of the oil filter. Note that this when the motor is in the stock location, front to back. So the Schumacher and TTI mounts. Holley has mounts that move the motor forward 1.75" which makes a 90 degree oil filter adapter fit, but they require the '73+ spool mount V8 k-frame. Holley's solution has other advantages (low mount AC compressor and SRV module clearance), but it makes the trans mount and shift linkage a pain if you wanted to use a stock transmission.

Far as I can remember, there are no mounts available for the spool mount /6 k-frame. But this kit works for a /6 biscuit mount k-frame. Not sure how much clearance that affords the oil filter mount though.

Don't know why the video's aren't available. Maybe you can see them?

If not, if you go to YouTube and search for Mongrels Garage Hemi Swap Wiring, you should find both of them. Episode 35 and 38.

The second video is from Blake at SublimeParts, same as the first video that (at least for me) is available.
