76 318 Duster barn find?

Welcome! I'd count it as your son's first "barn find." This forum has been great for me - tons of knowledge, great source for hard-to-find parts, plenty of humor - and occasionally a bit of debate (word to to the wise, dont ask for advice about electric fans vs. mechanical - just look of the dozens of archived threads on the topic).

agreed and also don't mention doing a 318 build...... ever :poke:

Look what I got Friday.

I spent the weekend working on an old F250 that's been sitting on my lift for 2 years since my dad got sick. I hope to have it running in the next week or so. Then I can pull the cylinder on the lift and take it for repair. It started leaking while we were working on the Ford.

That should have us ready to get going on the Duster when the weather cools off.

Update: It's taken longer than I had hoped (isn't that always the case?), but the F-250 is off the lift. I backed it off Saturday morning and I actually drove it to get a load of firewood yesterday with the 17 year old. That was a very satisfying experience. But, it had only been sitting for 10 years. We'll see what the Duster has in store. But, I'm committed to getting it out of that barn before snakes get active again. Which, around here means in the next three or four weekends.

In the meantime, I've been collecting some good parts. I picked up a set of heads from @340sport a few weeks ago that are still sitting in the shop and I haven't even gotten unboxed. But, I'll take the advice from @mygasser and not mention any plans for modding the little 318.

I also picked up an Intellitronix digital gauge panel from @QMopar a while back.

I thought I had an 8HP80 bought a few weeks back, but it fell through. I'm keeping an eye out, though. I figure that since I'm going to have to do front floor pans anyway, chopping the tunnel isn't that big a deal.

Although it's not moving as fast as I would have liked, we're trying to get there. Hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks we'll pick up some steam.
