hey all ive had this duster since 1985.drove the hell out of it.well kids came and it sat since 1994.now that the kids are driving age I pulled her out of the garage and got her running.i have two issues. one the blue wire from the ignition switch is partialy melted.wich I think is my intermitant power to the ballast resister problem. crank no start turn key back from start to on and it fires. hot wire ballast and she fires right up.and now the key works. go figure. problem two I put a set of j heads I had that had a fresh valve job and springs on it.i don't remember the exact cam specs it has but I remember the duration is 312.lift I think is 474 454.but any ways the timing I cant get it down to the 12 degrees initial I want . wont run less than 29 degrees. Advance works fine has double roller set properly. And yes I pulled it down to check .not sure where to go.im a dealer tech and have been for 20 plus years but I think im really rusty on the old stuff.any ideas
