78/79 727 trans difference. maybe swaped valvebodies

i think in 79 the lock up converter came out. but i have a 78 and 79 non lock up trans.. one came out of a 79 bigg *** van and the other a 78 interceptor. the problem is one seemed to have an extra ball and extra spring. that i may have got mixed up.. does anybody know if it would do more than
just drag my 1-2 shift down. cars been shifting fine but 1-2 shift just does not hit... bands been adjusted and only noticed it in the 2-3 shift ...help....
