8 1/4 adjustable pinion snubber

Hey guys, Im going to take a stock pinion snubber for my 8 1/4 and make it adjustable. What I need to know is what the measurements are on the 2 pieces of the typical adjustable snubber that slide together and have the holes drilled in them that make it adjustable. Im just trying to save a few bucks here and have a little fun fabbing up a custom part and thought someone here has got to have one of these that they can measure for me. Just find two pieces of square stock that fit one inside the other.
approx. Two inch on the outside one. If it has the holes in for the
adjustment pin all the better. Weld a plate on the small one for the
stop. Just play with the length for your car. About 2 1/2 to 3 in.
I had to cut down the length of my M P snubber when I flipped

Yeah, thats how i planned on making it, thanks for the general measurements though. The only thing I still need to know is what the spacing on the pin holes are.

If the holes are closer together, you'll have more of a range of adjustability, making it easier to fine tune the assembly. Just make sure they aren't so close that you'll bend the metal on a really hard launch.

Well, I actually was given another idea for one on another site that I think Im gonna try. Im going to take a piece of round steel tube, weld a large nut inside it and then get a big bolt and another nut to fit it. Ill put the second nut on the bolt, then screw the bolt into the welded nut. Then ill drill and tap the head of the bolt so that I can put a rubber bumper on it with a small screw. That will give me an infinately adjustable snubber and wont cost more than a couple of bucks for everything. Anyone think that this would be a bad idea?

I've seen those for sale on one of the sites. Actually it makes a lot more sense since it's infinitely adjustable. Show us a picture when it's done.
