8 1/4 from diplomat to a body

was wondering if a 8 1/4 rear from a early 80s diplomat has the same measurments width wise as opposed to the original diff from my 69 valiant.got the 8 1/4 for free,wanted to know if it was worth using .

It is a couple inches wider than the 7 1/4. Not a direct bolt in without moving the spring perches. I can't speak to how it would fit under a Valiant.

The one I got out of a '79 Volare is about 59.5" wide, or over 2" wider than stock.

I welded new perches on and bolted it into my '63 Valiant with Mustang wheels. Seems to work ok, but I've never driven it, either.
