Just found out that my '76 A38/E58 Valiant has an open diff. Id like to add a SG to it. Has there ever been a Dana style clutch type Power Lock available for these axles aftermarket or is the cone style all thats available?

I've never seen a Dana Power Lock for an 8.25 and I don't think anybody makes one. There are clutch type Track Lock units available though. Dr. Diff stocks them, as well as Summit and Jegs.

I see he sells a spicer trac loc. Was this available in any '80s-'90s production vehicle that I can potentially find in the junk yard? Or just the cone style?

I'm unsure what the factory offered. All I've seen is the cone style, but they are strong, especially if you have them reconditioned.

I stole mine out of a dana rear from a jeep. Late 90;s with a 35. Only issue is if you need a different gear have to order it for a jeep 10 bolts instead of 12?

Dr Diff has them. 96 and prior years are 27 spline axles. 97 to 04 are 29 spline

Wait, so a D35 diff will work in the 8.25? Cause I just remembered long ago I bought a D35 27 spline true-trac back when I was playing with 4wd Rangers (front axle is a D35 TTB in them) that Im pretty sure is still sitting on the shelf.

If I could throw that in that be sweet!
