8 1/4 With 4.56 Gears

HI everyone,
I heard about and am thinking about buying an 8 1/4 rear to replace my 7 1/4. This one has 4.56 gears but I have not been able to see it yet. Does anybody know if the 4.56 gears are usually posi?

Are you sure you want 4.56s (and in a 8.25 rearend)? What is your car's main purpose?

I am not really looking to do much with the car pretty much to drive it on the weekends and stuff, go to a couple local car shows. Like I said I have not been to see the rear so I am not sure. Maybe I could be wrong about the gears but thats what they told me.

Richmond made or possibly still makes a 4.56 ring and pinion for an 8.25 rear. The 8.25 with a sure-grip is a fairly strong unit.

I have them in my 8 1/4, its in a different vehicle, but same axle. I think I have Yukon gears in it.
