Is there any such thing as a stock A body 8 1/4" rear with 5x4 1/2 " bolt pattern? If so what did they come on? If not how hard is it to convert mine?

I bought from a guy that pulled it out of a 74 Duster. You just need to shorten your drive shaft 1.6 if you have a 7 1/4 now. The axle tube is bigger so you will need to buy 3" wide u bolts and enlongate the holes on your shock plates to accomodate the new wider U bolts. Your original parking brake lines can be reused and will install into the new backing plates. Install your wheels and tires and your on your way.

All 8.25's in dusters darts valiants were big bolt pattern. The 8.75" was only small bolt pattern.

All 8.25's had 5 on 4.5" bolt circles except the 92-04 Dakota's that have 6 on 4.5". 05 Dakotas went back to 5 lugs.

The standard rear end behind 318 a-bodies was the 7.25". The parts car I used for the disk brake swap into my Barracuda was a 73 Swinger with 318, disks and big bolt circle 7.25" rear end.

I guess I never measured, I alreadt have an 8 1/4 "rear, but I thought they were all 5 on 4"
