8.25 & 8.75 backing plates

Is there a difference between the backing plates? I swapped my 8.25 brakes over to my 8.75. Now when you slip the drum on, it acts like it won't seat all the way against the axle. It's as if the axle is too far in on the driver's side? Any suggestions?

The axle offset on an A-body 8.25 is set up for 2.5" wide brakes and a 8.75 for an a-body is set up for 1.75" wide brakes. You can't use the 8.25 brakes on an 8.75 without getting new axles for your 8.75

Thanks for the input! Sounds like it will be cheaper to go find some 8.75 A Body brakes...
