8.25 axles vs 8.75 axle ID

i would like to know how to tell 8.75 a body axles vs 8.25 axles... are the spline count different?

The 8 1/4 axle will have a groove for the C clip on the end. 8 1/4 has 27 splines, 8 3/4 has 30 splines.
